Is PC1066 backwards compatible?????

Does anyone know if PC1066 is backwards compatible?? I had a choice of buying the motherboard or memory and I chose memory until I can afford the 533 board. I would like to put the memory in my ASUS P4T-E which would make overclocking easier but I don't want to fry everything.

It is unless you buy the 32 bit RAM. If you get the 16 bit it is backwards compatible to the PC800.
