I sit on a computer all day at work, the last thing I want to do when I get home is look at a computer, even if it's to play video games. Hooray Xbox 360.

if you wanna play hard you got to pay the price simple as that i play both consoles and pc games and i like them both. you are better off building your own computer so that you can up graded it so that you can keep up with games that require more resources start off small not every one can just throw 1000 bucks one a gaming rig make your self a budget price parts do research on the parts see how much they can be upgraded

There's no right answer to this. I will build or upgrade my PC for Spore, and I don't think PC gaming is bad at all. People have been predicting the death of PC gaming for years, and still good games come out year after year. But if you don't feel like you'll play many games, then... buy a console.

So, to sum up, assess your own interests, then decide for yourself what you want to do.

its been in a slump lately, althought there are some good looking games coming up soon. I just pre-ordered Stalker and C&C3

The line is blurring though

I can play X-Plane on a PC using an xbox 360 wireless controller, and I can map all the buttons that I need, although I do use the mouse occasionally. But you could add a pointer using the other joystick on the controller.

FPS on the PC is starting to get very uncreative.
For example. I want to mindlessly gun down humans, not mutants, just bad evil guys.
So FPS fall into one of three catogories:
1)MMO, Battlefields, Clancys, too much reliance on tactics or Online scenarios. Not bad, I like that from time to time.
2)WW2. I love WW2 stuff, but why only WW2?
3)Does everything have to compete with horror films? Why does it have to be a mutant or alien? (HL, Cryxxx, FEAR,STALKER, etc.)

What about Max Payne, or the human element in modern day life?
I just want to kill bad guys in a nice thought out storyline.

I think thats why i liked SoF2 so much. not only was the best FPS game ever, but it was all modern day weapons and you fought against human enemies. no sci-fi garbage.

There have been doom and gloom reports on the death of PC Gaming for years. 2004 was the best year for PC gaming since 1998 and look how many reports on the death of PC gaming there were in between those years. There are many good games coming out this year and I suspect there will be another 1998 and 2004 to come.

sorry, but i don't want 6 year gaps between good games. this is pc gaming, not jesus christ rising from the dead every 6 years.

That's exactly why I stopped PC gaming. When I was heavy in to it, I was spending as much time reading and researching my next upgrade as I was playing the games I wanted to....all just so I could play those same games at a higher resolution or with shadows on or some such thing. I got tired of doing it over and over again with every new cycle of cards and games.

Are you unfamiliar with all of the games coming for PC this year?

You have games like: STALKER, Alan Wake, Unreal 2007, Silverfall, Crysis, Spore, Infernal, Frontline: Fields of Thunder, HL2: Episode 2, Command and Conquer: Tiberian Wars. And these are all within the next two months well except Alan Wake and Unreal which I think is a bit later. And then there is the one you mentioned, Age of Conan - there are actually a bunch of games but I can't think of too many right now.

If your into MMO's you have Vanguard coming and god knows what else. Crysis and Alan Wake alone are going to pwn any console by a large amount.

PC Forever man.

If you want a PC for the sake of gaming then it's not worth it. If you have a need for a new PC or an upgrade then it's worth it to throw in an extra $200 for a decent video card to enjoy PC gaming. There are lots of great PC games, old and new. I don't know how much time you can invest in playing games, right now Company of Heros, Oblivion (lots mods available only for PC), HL2, GTR2, Colin McRae Rally, Sims 2 (+ expansions), NeverWinter Night 2, BattleField 2, and Galatic Civ 2 are keeping me real busy, and I have a WOW account that I hardly have time to spend on it now... I have no complaints for lack of PC games, but I do resent the price of video cards and the temptation to go high end is strong

Don't be sorry. Jesus Christ rising from the dead every 6 years would be considerably more frequent than what we've seen of him lately.

I am really looking forward to Age of Conan for the PC... but I dunno if it will be worth it to buy a new computer just for one game. Any other good games for PC worth getting in the future?
I think the amount of quality games coming out each year has been decreasing. 4 or 5+ years ago, you used to be able to find a decent amount of quality games, but nowadays it only like 3 or 4 good quality games come out each year.
that in my opinion.
I support your opinion.
There used to be a bunch of Windows games to look forward to each year. Now I get excited about 1 title each year. And sometimes it disappoints.

The poplularity effect of console gaming has been showing itself in PC titles for a long time now.
Games are getting dumb, the content diminishes, the quality goes down. You can tell who the programmers are really thinking about.

Unless LucasArts announces a new RPG in the next year I may just give up on video games and get a life instead.

as far as im concerned... PC gaming peaked at Yuri's revenge and Sid Meiers Pirates...

Even console gaming to me has become "blech"... AND WAY TOO EXPENSIVE...
I miss the days of simple fun games... the days when you could pick up a game, learn how to play it in 15 minutes, and then have a party of friends over and all play it.

I'm disgusted with the 360 because few games offer split screen gaming, and I refuse to pay for live gold, just so I can play multiplayer in my own living room.
I might get a PS3 or a Wii when the price comes down, way down...

So until then, my friends and I are continuing to playing Madden on my PS2, and Mario Kart / Mario Baseball on my gamecube.

There hasn't been anything new with gaming concepts. Almost everything has been done already. The only thing that gets better is pretty much the graphics.
