Is paypal crap?

Is it me or is it that everyone is getting these:

<< We regret to inform you that you received funds from an account with
reports of fraudulent credit card use
>>

Not that I use paypal but every thread about it has someone ranting about that.

yes pay-enemy is crap.

don't use it - go w/money orders -- sure it takes a little longer for trades, but at least you don't get those damn fraudulent charges bulsh!t on your account. i hate pay-enemy.

as you can tell, i'm still bitter!! :|

Yeah, don't blame yourself for not having a job, blame the employer for not hiring you..

I've done at least a dozen transactions on paypal, and I've had zero mishaps..

Paypal works fine for me. I have moved at least 15K thru them without a hiccup. In addition I have a CC with them.

Yes PayPal is crap. I had a 4 month old transaction and they just sent me one of those fraud notices a week ago. I pulled off all my accounts and let them give me a -$250 balance. I have no responcability to pay them back the money, esspicially seeing that the person that bought the part from me has the item.

PayPal SUCKS!

Also let me state for the record that I have done over $20,000 worth the transactions sence I first signed up. It only takes one unjustified incident to change your mind. :|

For those of you haveing problems, you might want to consider shipping/accepting payments only to verified addresses.

Ya, I imagine that would help now... but when I completely my transaction over 4 months ago, being verified didn't have the perks it does now. They have made alot of changes... but 4 months and they want to come back and pull my money? WTF?

Hi,

Accepting credit card transactions does carry some risk of the card being used fraudulently. We do offer Sellers Protection from these items if they follow the terms and conditions of the Seller Protection Program.

Charge backs can take several months to trickle in because---
1. The user that reported the issue with their card may not have noticed it. They have 60 days, in general, to dispute it with the credit card company.

Dealing in computer equipment also carries some risk of being a target for fraudsters.Electronics and jewelry are targets because they are liquid for those engaging in credit card fraud. Major fraud areas include:Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ukraine, Romania, etc.

We process well over 100,000+ transactions daily and the majority of them have no issues whatsoever. For those that wish to reduce their potential liability for charge backs, please review the Seller Protection Program. You can also set your payment receiving preferences (for Premier/Business accounts) by going under your account profile (such as accept payments from verified members only).

I had posted some additional information earlier on how to detect potential fraud. The Seller Protection Program is a key asset for those that want to accept credit cards, but do not want to have liability for charge backs by following a few rules.

Yes it sucks a$$. The funny thing is I still get responses to my emails from December. LMAO:Q😕

Paypal is a wonderful company, providing a valuable service and operating a flawless system. If you have problems with them, it must be your own stupidity. They are beyond errors.

Hi Russ,

There have been customer service issues in the past, but I am trying to educate as many users as possible about how to avoid/spot problems, in addition to alleviating any fears about the service (such as providing us with information). I can actually step put here and tell users how to limit/eliminate liability from charge backs, as well as providing them with information on how to spot a potentially bothersome transaction.

If your getting fraud messages from pay pal.
Mabey you should reconsider who your dealing with.

Bothersome?

Having PayPal tell you for 4 months that the money sent to you was good, and then turn around and pull something like this? Bullshit. If PayPal is going to offer a secure service, then they should learn how to validate credit cards, and protect their members. Instead you're the bad guy. If someone put up a fraudulant creditcard and was able to use it, it's your problem. The credit card name should match the members name. Also if the member had to reply to a letter in order to put up that credit card there shouldn't be a problem.

You people make me sick.

Sarcasm right? 😕

Hi Bowdown,

Credit cards do go through an AVS check and we have other internal measures to help with credit card fraud. However, this does not completely eliminate the potential for an issue because of charge back rights or the delay in reporting fraud.

Our fraud percentages are well below the industry standards because of how aggressively we pursue it.

The timeframes that charge backs trickle in/ processed is not entirely controlled by us. The credit card company has the final say in issuing one and it can take time for the information to get to us.

It is why, if you are accepting credit card payments, I would recommend reading the rules in the Seller Protection Program and using it.
