James Simons (Renaissance Technologies fund manager) pulled in $1.7 Billion in 2006. He could use all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff paychecks for toilet paper.

What does that have to do with the topic of the thread?

OK, its a stupid post :), but serving as Joint Chief of Staff bumps a "Generals" base salary up to $17,972.10/mo, so all 6 Joint Chief's pull in ~ $108,000/mo combined, Simons makes that in what 1/2 an hour? (even when he's sleeping)

Highest paid private sector managers make so much more than the highest paid US Generals, that even their combined incomes are insignificant by comparison.

Maybe, but it's not like a general could just assume Simons' role if he wanted to.

Conversely, it's not like Simons could be a military general either.

The vast majority of people will never make that kind of money (referring to Simons) no matter what they do.
