Bad is a matter of perspective. It's damn sure not health food and it's a lot more fatty than stuff like turkey, but on the whole pastrami is kind of middle of the pack for sandwich meats. It's better than ham, bologna, mortadella and salami. You can't eat it every day, but one pastrami sandwich a week isn't going to kill you.
You guys seem to ignore the fact that heart disease is the #1 killer in America and other parts of the world as well. Death from pastrami at age 50 is not an attractive way to die. Maybe you don't care, but I do.
If pastrami is bad for your heart and cardio system, then it should be avoided. That's why I asked. How can asking about that be a waste of time? You guys are all going to die from eating terrible shit with that kind of attitude.
Ermagawd the nitrates are of course bad, but in moderation or with vegetables its no big deal.
