Is open UPnP safe?

I used to have my Azureus working fine without turning UPnP on. Just Port Fowarding on my router and I get Green Smiley face all the time. But after I reinstall Window, and my Azureus give me NAT error all the times. I still used the same old port that worked for me in the past. Also, I don't have software Firewall, and turned off Window's FW as well.

But when I enable UPnP on my Router, Azureus works with green face. I heard that UPnP is bad, and should be disable. What do you think?

leave UPnp on oive never had an isssye with it, azureus needs it to run on a port in the 40K range on my comp

Sorry if I posted in wrong forum.

Well I'm pretty sure I didn't mess anything with my Router, I leave the same setting which works with Azureus before. But after I reinstall Window and Azureus, Azureus can't work right. Now i have to leave UPnP on in router in order for Azureus to work perfectly.

I heard that UPnP can lead to security/hacker etc., is it true? and I don't use software Firewall...

Just like most network services, it's a risk. Check to make sure your IP address is correct for the forwarding to work.
