Is online popularity important to you?

Is it?

Do you thrive on it? Do you draw attention to yourself, or crave it? Do you care?

Why do you post? What makes you post? Do you want other persona online to have regards for what your opinions are? Do you care?

Why do you share your personal beliefs? Why do you share the detail of your supposed life? Do you expect anything by sharing such stories? Do you care?

Just some questions.

Umm, if anyone has ever noticed my posts, you can see I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. ;)

No, it's not.
I post because it's interesting to see the reactions of random people to the things that go on my life.

It used to feel good when people knew me online. Then some pretty scary stuff happened and now I'd rather people didn't know who I was.

Sometimes I do it in the hopes that I might be able to make an amusing comment.
Or sometimes to rant because I'm bored. Yeah, usually that, because I don't want to be doing exceedingly boring and mindlessly repetitive homework.

Ugh, just had a flashback to grade school - "5-times Each" homework assignments. Our list of vocabulary words had to be written, 5 times for each word. I hated that, but then, I've always hated writing. Typing is so much easier and quicker. Writing feels like I'm trying to push my thoughts through a binary Morse-code connection, whose data packets are being delivered by Pony Express. Typing is a bit better, it's an upgrade to a 2400kbps modem with pristine line quality. Speech is like a 33.6kbps modem with severe packet loss and data corruption. - things don't quite come out right all the time.

There, a rant because I'm procrastinating doing a physics II homework assignment that I'm not particularly concerned about.

Popularity, nope. A "meeting" place, sure. I've had quite a number of beers with a plethora of fellow ATer's. It's a nice place to meet people from all over the country(world even).

I used to do a lot of traveling. Meeting somebody from here for beer and a dinner is a lot better than having a Subway sammich in a boring ass hotel room.

This place is also good for getting opinions on points of interest in various towns/cities across the country.

No. It's a good place for discussion and getting weird conversation starters that I'm too lazy to look for, but I hardly "know" anyone on this forum save by name, avatar and rep; and I seriously doubt anyone here "knows" me (although I've stated my near-complete beliefs clearly on a few issues)

I think you can draw a pretty good relationship between desire for online popularity and average posts per day.

I'd rather not be "popular" online. I don't want any of you freaks to ever find me on the street.

Very important.
When I was a child in East Berlin in the 1940s. I prayed that someone would invent the internet so that my life would have some sort of validation. Luckily Al Gore came along and did just that.
Now I have a purpose and a reason for living.
I love you, Al.

Nah, it's purely for entertainment, laughing at some of the witty comments and stupid arguments that goes around this place. People trying to be elite.

But to also take advantage of our wide geography, language, culture, education backgrounds to give insight into certain things or to "loosely speaking" educate myself on certain matters.

Or if I want to go somewhere and you're local I might hit up a thread about points of interests. Things like that.

Seriously, why would any stranger think what thousands of anonymous people here think of themselves? That's silly.

Nah, at is just another source of information with opinions added to that information.
