Don't tempt me Thugs, I have a really bad itch to upgrade. I want a 2.4, 2.6, or 2.8, but for the reasons I stated I am holding back...
Although the 2.8 might be a good choice as PC3500 memory should handle it with 1:1...
hmm...
Perhaps when I get back from my vacation I'll have to do it :D

ive got another 2.4b C1 comin ~ im itchin to hit 200fsb :D

im not interested in the "C" chips either (for the same reasons youve stated)
if i wanted to play 800fsb id get a used P4m C1.

a few ppl have stated that the P4m C1 is faster then a "C" chip clock for clock.
noone knows for sure why ~ maybe the lack of HT.

:)

But HT sure would help out my apps that I run. :)

BTW, I forgot to update you on the IHS removal of my 2.53, I was able to get 7 more on the FSB stabily. But I brought the clock back down to allow for turbo memory ratio. My apps like the greater the memory speed than CPU clock.

Now if I can get some memory that plays well with 177FSB with a turbo ratio and 2-2-2-6, that would be most sweet. But I do not think there is any memory out there that can do that :disgust:

On my 845PE board, my system overall is sssssssssooooooooooooooo much faster in every respect turning my memory ratio to turbo vs. running 3:4. Even though I get much higher clock speeds with the looser memory ratio.
The only thing where the higher clock speeds help is for CPU dependant benchmarks, that and that only.... not a single thing else.
I have to laugh at all the peeps thinking they have a faster computer OC'ed to 3.xGHz but running 5:4, 3:2 memory timings.

Kinda like having a mustang stuck in 2nd gear. Sure it has potential to be a fast car, but stuck in that gear it would be one joke of a car.
Thats my thoughts anyway

But until PC3700 becomes affordable or 'PC4000?' is released, I'm not gunna upgrade my system as everything I have learned with the P4's is that no matter what, memory bandwidth helps more than raw cpu speed.
If you actually did have an 875 rig and actually ran benckmarks, you would see that 5:4 is ~ a 2% performance penalty. 3:2 is ~ 4-5%.

That is a general number that varies app to app. Timings also matter. If you have to run slow timings to get to the 1:1 ratio, and can run fast timings @ 5:4, its not even 2%. In many apps, there is no difference at all.

7fsb more eh? thats sounds very temping

do you mean 177fsb 4:5 ratio?
