<< I'd almost say yes. I have an old pair of e-wires from about 97 or 98. The clarity of the optics in a pair of Oakleys (or other high-end sunglasses) is unbelievable. They don't compare to the cheap glasses. That said, I think the material they make the frames out of is such crap that they aren't worth it if you have any chance or losing/breaking them. My e-wires are so bent up its crazy. I tried finding the t-wires a little while ago hoping they wouldn't have that problem, but they apparently canceled those.
Now I have a pair of Ray-Bans (ditched Oakley due to style reasons) and they have pretty much the same problem. Awesome optics, somewhat crappy frame construction (bends way to easily, especially the nose bridge). >>
I'm in the exact same boat as Nord. They have great optics, but their frames blow. Gets bent all the time. I used to bring it in to Sunglass Hut and let them warm it up and all and try to bend it, but after having to go in every month or so, I just said "fu<k it" and started doing it myself. I think Oakley's would be much more worth it if they put polarized lenses into their wires, but unfortunately, you can't even buy customized ones like you can with the prescriptions. But even if they did, I probably still wouldn't buy it because I think trying to look like Robocop lost it's fad along with Dolorians some time in the 80's.
Nord: you should look into purchasing a pair of flexon frames. I picked up a pair of Maui Jims and although they're a little more expensive, the frames are indestructable and they have beautiful polarized lenses. I take $#!TTY care of them compared to the kind of care that Oakleys required and they still look and fit like they are brand new.
