Is new RAM for me worth it or not ?

Going from 928Mhz RAM . Is it worth it to buy 1600Mhz RAM.

Will I see a difference ?

My mobo in AIDA64 says it supports DDR3 1333 .

In the BIOS it says DDR2 , and bunch of options,, I can take up to 1900Mhz ram,,,,thx 😱

1600MHz RAM is DDR3. I doubt you will be able to get DDR2 up that high, or anywhere close.

What part of performance do you hope to increase?

Thanks for the response Zap,

Honestly everything is fine with my rig, I have no complaints. Thats why I asked if it matters really @ 928Mhz if my mobo fits DDR3 1600 .... I think I cant install DDR3 on my board even tho Aida64 says so. Specifically says DDR3 1333. Just curious I am as to how much difference it takes

Also ZAP the fact my mobo says DDR3 1333 means I can put DDR3 memory ? Some one tell me if Im right or wrong. I dont mind sticking with what I have,, its just RAM is soo cheap I was wondering thats all. Thanks all

Pretty sure that's a DDR2 board. Why worry about memory speed anyways though? On a Core2 system, running RAM faster than FSB has basically zero benefit.

Certainly, if you are going to to increase the CPU speed its gonna boost the performance, however, I think you shoud upgrade other supportive things as well or else you might notice some bad effects.

Take a look at your motherboard, Tweakboy.

I mean seriously, open the case, remove your memory modules, and take a look at the actual physical memory slots.

DDR2 and DDR3 are physically different. The little groove on the sticks that match up with the tab in the slots are in different locations. They can only fit in their respective sockets.

Are all your sockets on your motherboard identical?

Try it now.

See if you can actually physically fit one of your memory modules into each of the sockets.

I'm waiting...

Do they fit?

If the answer is YES, go to answer 1.

If the answer is NO, go to answer 2.

Answer 1. --- Your motherboard only supports DDR2. You can not actually physically fit DDR3 into the slots.

Answer 2. --- Your motherboard is a type of hybrid board that supports both DDR2, and DDR3 (but not both at the same time). The slots into which you are not able to fit properly your DDR2 modules are designed for DDR3.

As recommended previously, save your money for a new setup, since new memory will not make a difference that you will be able to notice. GG, GB ,FF, FO, @ GD
