Is Nero 7 stable enough to switch from 6.6?

I remember hearing a lot of people having issues when 7 came out. I've kept and have been happy with 6. Is it time to switch? Is there any real gain?

6 was awesome. I've had problems with 7. Right now my Nero Classic doesn't work, but Express does. Classic crashes on me when I try to run it and still does even after a reinstall.

I've been running it for a few months w/o an issue. I've burn dvds cds, converted dvds to mp4. My only complaint is that is unable to convert wma to mp3.

I think I'm going to skip running 7 until I hear more good experiences. For now, Nero 6 does all I need it to do for videos, dvds, and cds.

Nero 7 has some nice improvements and they just released a new version that crushed a lot of bugs. It might have reached a state of maturity that hardline 6.x users can finally switch to 7.x, besides the universal installer allow you to install just the apps you want.

totally. it installes all this crap software. it even puts this "nero scout" in my computer. i found it buggy and like 6.6 better. and i also have the prob where the Burning ROM will crash on me every time but the express works fine. i found out how to fix it. kind of.
open the express and click on the button on the side to open additional functions.
then click on the options on the top.
go the the "Expert Features" tab and click on the restore and it should work. but you have to do this often.
nero 7 is buggy. i'll check the update. maybe it helps.

nero 7 lite (from msfn.org forums) is what i use. fortunately the guy who created it took out basically all of the bloat. all you need is a valid nero 7 key and you are set.

It's not bloated, it's useful software in which the end user can decide which apps he want to install.

Nero 7.x = 177 megabytes installed {the whole suite}

Roxio 8.x = 1400 megabytes installed

Vista b2 = 7000 megabytes installed.

Nero is not that bad compared with other apps today.

I use:

Nero Home
Nero Scout
Nero StartSmart { I hate that the window can't be resized. }
Nero Burning ROM 7
Nero Express 7
Nero WaveEditor 3
Nero SoundTrax 2
Nero Vision 4
Nero Recode 2
Nero ShowTime 3
Nero MediaHome
Nero PhotoSnap
Nero CoverDesigner
Nero Toolkit
Nero BackItUp 2
InCD 5
Nero SoundBox
Nero ImageDrive

I am using Nero 7 Ultra Edition and I don't know if I have problem with this program or CD-R not be able to burn completely or is it my DVD drive itself. But Nero 7 looks cool to me

I don't really ever have any problems with it. There's trouble when I try and throw 2gb divx files into nero vision, but that's about it

I had both, basically they are the same, nero 7 has a more beautiful interface, I switched to nero 6.6 because the Incd that came with nero 7 gave me many problems, but nero 6.6 does the same job so don't upgrade if you don't need to.

How do you get rid of that Nero Search that appears in the task bar? Everytime I click on it, and hit options, tells me I have t oinstall nero. Very annoying. This is in nero 7

I found Nero 6 to be a hog compared to 5 but it did update the core burning component with the latest standards. Aside from the interface, the difference with 7 may not be as significant unless you use the optional components. But it is no more hoggish than 6 and indeed nothing but Scout and Search are "forced" on you. But that is easily solved:

Run Nero Scout, clear the Enable checkbox... right-click Taskbar uncheck Nero Search.

The way I removed it was to select it first in options(enable it) then deselect it again after.

I meant right-click Taskbar then uncheck Nero Search from Toolbars. Since I always did that immediately I didn't even notice that it was possible to open the same Nero Scout options panel from Nero Search's green arrow button.
