Is my XP default driver for FEAR messing up the audio??

I got fear today and installed it, I updated it to 1.02. I also updated my 6800gt. I have a old SB live platinum and just use the stock XP drivers. Most games are just fine but after I run the timedemo in FEAR the sound kind of hisses and pops every once and a while. I haven't actually gotten into the single player yet, I just tried the time demo.

Also does anyone know where to get just SB drivers. On creative.com you have to D/L a 23mb file that has all sorts of crap in it that I don't want. Honestly thats the only reason I've been using the XP driver is because I wanted to avoid all the crapware they install.

Also I'm also wondering why FEAR only has options up to 1024X768 on my computer, it has no 1280x option which is the native resolution for my Hyundai 19" LCD.

it would be wise to get the proper drivers for the card, that way you get the most from it. but at the mo i cant update my Audigy 2.........heh creative installer insists there is no audigy product present in my system, and then closes.

i have a prob in FEAR too.....while i can select EAX etc in the menu....i can only choose between min, med and max software sounds?
 
hey zane (sharing acct) u can change the res in the cfg file in the user directory. there's an icon in the start menu folder for fear for it.
