Just wondering how u can tell if your raid array is actually working? I have to drives set to mirror mode, and would luv to know if they r actually backing each other up, without taking my comp apart.

Also, when my comp boots up, i get a "can't create blank document" message from my RAID administrator software. Any guess what than means? (abit kr7a-133 mobo, 2 maxtor 40gig, highpoint RAID software comes with mobo)
Thanks, folks!

I don't have much experience setting up RAID on a PC but in my Mac Server the Mirrored Drive(s) show up on the desktop and whatever I drop into one the other gets a copy also. So if i save my video file to HD #1 then HD #2 will get a copy of that same file as well and you can see the file in the drive when you open it.

You can go into the RAID cards BIOS, and select the first drive and have it automatically fail. It won't do anything to the drive, but the RAID card will think it's failed. If your OS boots up, it's booting off your second drive and YES, your RAID is working.

After you've tested that theory, go back into your RAID BIOS, and simply mark the drive as back to online, or you can rebuild the array if you've changed anything on the 2nd drive.

EDIT: If you can't find that option in your RAID card, or it doesn't have it for some reason, just pull off one side panel case, unplug the power from the first drive and it'll do the same thing.
