Hi guys.

Please tell me whether you think my PSU's are failing.

When I turn my PC on (happened to two different PC's, the CPU fan spins for about half a second and then stops.

If i bridge black and green, it does however turn on.

Any ideas?

Both plugs are plugged in.

Well I'm not sure exactly what your system is or what PSU's you have, so please let us know a bit more of information, so we can try and help you out. Are both PC's the same or are they different systems with the same PSU or different PSU's??

Cant remember the system, think it was 3500+ with A8V- 400watt PSU so should suffice.

Guessing it is the PSU

So which black and green wire?
Which plugs are you talking about?

You could have a faulty on/off switch on the front of your case???

If it turns on when you short them(blk, grn) i would think its the power switch on the case or the motherboard going bad. Check it in another system and see if it works.

Well thats what I thought as well, but if I bridge the pins on the motherboard that the switch plugs into, it does the same thing. I even connected the reset button to the power switch pins of the board and it did the same thing, so im ruling out the switch..

Well thats what I would have thought at first, but one is a brand new motherboard and the other wasnt and it was doing the same thing

Have you tried a different PSU with the same mobo?? This would tell us if it was the mobo for sure. It's does sound like the PSU is having an issue, since it has the same problem with a different mobo.

Well until recently, I couldnt test with any of the PSU's I had.. they were all 20pin ATX connectors 🙁 but I found a 24 pin and it turned on so i'm going to assume its the PSU.

Will buy one tomorrow

Cheers guys
