Is my new 6950 DOA? oh gosh darn it!!

I just finished putting together my new build only to find that the system will not power on with the 6950 installed inside. If I put my old 4850 in, it will work.. otherwise the system won't turn on, no fans, no post no nothing.. The fans on the 6950 won't even work

Common sense is telling me that the video card is DOA, but with these new monstrosities, I don't know if I'm forgetting to do something other than the obvious of plugging it in and making sure both pci-e power cables are in

So is there any other way to test it, or is it DOA?

It sounds like a defective card or incompatible motherboard. All that is needed is the two 6 pin connections. If the 4850 works then the slot does. Are you using an older motherboard? Some old boards need BIOS updates to work with newer cards.

check your motherboard for a new bios. does your old build have pcie? get it tossed back together and see if the card POSTS in there.
