Hey guys,

I'm having an issue with my computer (the specs are in my sig, the top computer). When I turn it on everything powers up as it should but it won't even boot to my setup screen in bios. it just sits there with everything on. It is weird, I've pulled the power cord and cleared the CMOS, that didn't do anything. It just started after I was watching a tv show on Hulu and it just froze up. I restarted it and thats when it started. Anyways, I'm on my laptop at the moment, if anyone has any ideas on what it could be that would be very helpful. I'm about to just pull the trigger on a Striker II Formula as a replacement. Thanks.

When a pc is behaving like yours is, the best thing to do is take it apart down to the bare essentials.
Cpu, memory, video card, power supply, speaker, then clear cmos.

If it doesn't post with that then its time to drag out the multimeter and measure the power supply voltages.
If they are okay then swap out some ram if you have it.
If none of that works and the motherboard isn't beeping, then I would replace the board.

No nothing is in the usb ports, I've unplugged virtually everything except the keyboard when booting. I checked my power supply and it is working fine, pumping out more than enough juice to power it. I've swapped out the ram and that didn't work. I'm going to try a different cpu tomorrow when I'm not so damned tired and see if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll report back shortly..

slow down, you're rushing and if you want our help, we need to check things before just throwing parts into it, willynilly.

Anyone have any tips for this motherboard or issues like this with it? It is so weird. I tried everything you guys suggested, still no dice. Anyone have any opinions on a striker II formula?

I'm thinking the northbridge might have died due to too much hear, although I had a ton of airflow through my case. anyway to check that particuarly?

No, it does not have onboard video. I tore my computer apart and ran the motherboard outside the pc so it is certainly not shorting out on anything. I'm about 99% sure that it is dead, if so, does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement, preferably around 150 ish to 200? Ideally one that will overclock and has sli support.

my only opinion is the striker 2 formula is problem prone. get an evga or XFX board instead. they overclock better and are more reliable. buddy built a system with one just 2 weeks ago and we ended up returning the board to newegg for its evga counterpart. works better, came with an up to date bios, and it is cheaper

ed: the nerds has it for only $230 + shipping (and tax if you live in florida)

to bad i didnt see this yesterday, buy.com was selling it for 230 with a 20 dollar mail in rebate but it went back up in price
