Is my motherboard screwed?

I built a new PC about a week ago and after some initial issues (had to RMA a bad video card), things have been running smoothly for the last 5-6 days. Well, yesterday evening I come to my computer, which has been running fine all day, and turn on the monitor and am welcomed by a BSoD. A bit troubling, but I wasn't overly concerned since BSoDs are hardly unheard of with Windows.

So I reset my computer and it POSTS and then I see a black screen with some message about a header checksum. I wish I had written it down now, but I didn't. So I reset it again and it does the same thing. So I reset it once more and hit DEL to enter the BIOS... the computer locks up attempting to enter the BIOS. So I turn it off and start it back up and this time I just see one of the logos on the inital post screen and nothing else. So I turn it off and start it up again and this time get nothing at all. Just a black screen... no post, no logos, no text of any kind (fans are working and the DVD drive and hard drives spin up).

So I turn off the power and unplug the computer and then clear the CMOS. Start it up again and just see the black screen. Clear the CMOS one more time and again just get a black screen. That's all the damn thing does now... a black screen with no POST. I even tried putting in the DVD that came with the motherboard (P5E motherboard) to see if the Crash Free BIOS utility would work... nothing.

So is this motherboard simply hosed and in need of an RMA? What could have happened? Why would it work for one week and then get corrupted out of the blue like that? Or is it possibly something else that I'm missing here?
