Is my monitor dying?

I've got a 19" CRT from 2003 that I've been having some problems with lately. The monitor is flickering. Well not really flickering, but rather "wobbling" if that can used to describe a monitor. The screen kind of shakes around a little bit.

This was happening on both my old computer and my new computer. I am running the monitor through a DVI-to-VGA adapter.

I'm not sure if this is the monitor cable (which on this model I can't really replace) or if there is something fundamentally wrong with the monitor itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had the same thing going on with my 17" CRT i got in 2000. It just started happening last year. Basicly something in the monitor is going bad. So its time to replace it. If you have a TV repair place near by they could fix it but i found it to be a perfect ecscuse to buy a bigger and better LCD monitor.

Back when I used CRTs that used to happen to me once in a while - usually when a tyrannosaurus was walking past... Seriously though, it seemed to happen when the electricity was a bit abnormal (summertime power company cutbacks due to all the a/c's, electrical storms). Have you tried different outlets? A UPS / power conditioner? How about just getting an LCD? They're so, so, so much better...

Thanks guys. The monitor is acutally on a UPS that is powering my computer. I've tried it both on and off the UPS.

I took your advice though and upgraded to a 22" LCD. I'm sure it will be worth.

Thanks
