Is my Linksys router or modem dying?

I am wondering if I need to buy a new wireless router or modem. Let me explain
my situation.

I have a linksys modem (befcmu10) and wireless router (befw11s4). The pc I am
currently hooked up to now is right next to it so I have a direct cat5 into the router
on port 1. I use a wireless card on my laptop and the wife's computer downstairs.
My problem is, even with the directly connected pc, that I have a hard time reaching
some sites (google, for instance). It will not load until I power cycle the modem &
router.

After power cycling, all pages load up lighning fast. I have tried to isolate my problem
when this problem occurs by removing the router from the equation and directly plugging
my cat5 into the modem. It still does it until I power cycle. It has gotten to the point
where I have to cycle at min once a day. I used to be able to leave this stuff on (modem
and router) for days in a row and never have an issue.

Any insight is greatly accepted.

feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you say you have this problem even without the router, then it is your modem. Router and modem works very independently and if you can get it to work after a power cycle (try just power cycle the modem), then might as well replace it.

Thanks for the input Panda.

Looks like I did it wrong; after plugging directly into the modem, I had to do a power
cycle and then it worked fine. It worked w/o a hitch for well over 9 hours yesterday;
until I re-attached the router. Within a couple of hours it did it again.

I contacted Linksys chat, who told me to Enable MTU and set it to 1500 (it was already
set to 1500, just not set to Enabled). I will have to test it today to see if that works.
And I also updated the firmware of the router to the latest (prior to it losing its
connection, so I know the firmware didn't change the situation).

I'll test the router w/ the new MTU and see if that does it.

does this only happens when one computer is plugged into port 1? Or does this happen when the wireless computer is being used as well?
have you tried other ports?

Have you tried using another NIC on your desktop ? (I doubt this is the problem though)
