is my floppy drive fried? I keep getting "Disk Write Errors"

First, make sure that the cable is connected to the drive properly. Then, make sure all settings pertaining to floppy drives in the BIOS are properly set. Then, test 2 or 3 different disks, making sure you try both slider positions. If all else fails, fork over the $10 necessary for a new drive. =)

I'm sure that the cable is connected right - 100% positive. What should I look for in the bios as far as floppy settings? Any settings that should be standard on all computers?

OMG gateway actaullly has motherboard docs/pics on their website for consumers .. oh have you tried a different startup disk? if so DONT TROUBLESHOOT ANYMORE, just buy another floppy drive and be done with it .. good luck ..
