Is my Crucial ram bad?

Well, a while ago I bought another PC2100 DDR ram stick from Crucial, only to find my system to be a little less stable than usual. Well, I stuck in the new piece of ram and ran a memory tester, and after a few minutes I got 1 error... I let it run through the night and it completed 9 full tests, but still there was only 1 error.

So should I return it to Crucial? And how do I go about doing that? I looked on Crucial.com and could't find anything on warranties...

Just contact their support department and explain your problem to them. They make very good ram but it cant be perfect.

I've had 8 different sticks of their sdr and ddr with no problems & thats all I buy now. The lifetime warranty is a nice touch but I dont think it costs them much.

Yes it could be bad!!!! I think Crucial is the best too but I had a piece go bad. I was getting less than or equal to errors and windows would not load. Later I could not install windows. I have two 256mb pieces. Once I pulled one out all was fine! Call Crucial and have them replace it. There were other guys on the forum here who had Crucial problems. It seemed that most of us bought it around august-september of last year.

I wouldn't agree with that. All companies have their bad apples, so does Crucial. Their modules too could go bad and their products too are vulnerable to defects.

That said, I would agree that Crucial is one of the top manufacturers of DIMMs out there and their quality control is excellent

I have the same problem with a Mushkin stick. I am not certain it is the stick or my motherboard. How does it test when it is the only stick in your machine?

Crucial is great but I had to return a defective ddr module once. They're pretty cool about it, within about five minutes of calling I had an rma number.

I just had a crucial module go evil on me... 'twas a DDR266 but one fine morning it decided that it should not run at anything higher than DDR200... 🙁

but their RMA policy is great... Its been about a year since i bought it, but i just called them up, and after a $5.40 UPS to them... 1 1/2 weeks later me holding a brand new stick of RAM!!! 😀

I got a stick of Crucial SDRAM last year, tested it with Memtest86 and got a ton of errors. Sent them email and took over a week to get a reply. I would end up having to pay shipping from Canada to the States twice, which would be more than going out and buying more ram, so I set it up at slower settings and it passed Memtest. I now buy ram locally and its been every bit as good as Crucial.

mushkin paid for shipping both ways (new ram to me, and bad ram to them) when i had to rma ram . crucial makes you pay? does kingston or corsair also make you pay?
