Is my CPU bad?

I spilled water on my entire computer recently, through the top of the case, and have been narrowing down what parts are still good. I'm fairly certain my motherboard is toast, I've tried multiple PSU's and I can't get any power to it.

I'm curious if my CPU (i7 870) is still good?

I'm wanting to salvage what I can from the computer and build a spare, but if the CPU/Motherboard are bad, I may hold off on the project for a while.

I'm guessing its impossible to tell without actually testing the cpu on a working board. I would look for a cheap board on ebay or the f/s forum or sell the chip as untested with return privileges.

It's hard to say what is damaged and what isn't. Your gonna have to test them one by one to see. You could have damage from everything to nothing at all once you get it 100% dried out

Did you remove the cpu to see if it's wet? If so any signs of burning?

Any visible signs of damage on the motherboard?

Your best bet is to not keep trying to boot up the rig. Take it all apart and look for signs of water on each part one by one. Blow off any water with compressed air or maybe a blow dryer. I think a plastic bag with uncooked rice will absorb moisture if needed?
