Is my connection speed okay for DSL?

Just set up my DSL connection. The transfer rate from the local Road Runner server for a 49.3 MB file was about 312 KB/sec.

Is this okay?

I am lucky I get such good speeds. I am a pretty good distance from CO, and I live in an older neighborhood with crappy wires. I have actually been able to get over 150 K/s from some servers on occasion. It serves me well.

that's similar to my friend's cable, he gets 2.8mb for about $26 US dollars. once i was at his house probably around 9PM and i saw him getting 800KB/s but that was once time and he hasn't got it since lol.

yes that connection is good, i pay for 1.5mb and i get about 150kb/s when i download large files (download accelerater on).

My downloads hover around the 85 KB/sec mark. Im paying 29.95/mon for a year with SBC, for Speedpath 768/128. I think Im like 12,000 ft from the CO

He's getting about 5-6 times faster than 512k 😉

Incidentally, I pay £29.99 a month for 512k down 256k up 🙁 (yes, that's GBP)
