I just got a new system and I think it's running too hot. Running prime95 right now and system is at 50 degrees celsius. You can check out my rig thru the link but I have a:

P4 2.5ghz - stock fan/heatsinkcurrently overclocked to 2.58ghz, ive had it up to 3ghz but system shut down with diablo 2, not sure why diablo 2 caused it to, everythign else ran fine.

800mhz rdram overclocked (4X in mobo)

Cooler Master ATC-201 Aluminum Case with 4 80mm case fans see review here: @ OverclockerCafe.com

I am in the top floor of my house, so my room isn't real cool. Not sure how much a difference that can make.

Thanks.

Don't have any experience with Intel hardware like yours, but ambient temp makes all the difference in the world. A perfectly efficient (and ficticious) heatsink can only cool to the temperature of the air around it. Cool the room, cool the chip. 50º doesn't seem too hot, but that might be the breaking point of that chip at that overclock.

The temp is not really high, but is pretty high for a P4. If you have some spare change laying around it wouldnt hurt to Upgrade your HSF! Since you tried a 500mhz overclock I would get a new HSF combo for the next time ya try, it will work better I promise :)

Well, I'm not too sure about this but I'll take a huge guess, when you overclock by the FSB you get the AGP slot mhz all outta wack. So if you had it overclocked and under stress testing the Video Card might have been damaged with the incorrect mhz setting. I saw it happen to a friend one time at a LAN party trying to show off his computer...This is a long shot, but hey its 7am and I am hungover!
