is my cd-rom dirty?

lately the vcds that i burn when i play it in the regular cd-rom.. it will play for 2 second.. and then stop.. and then you can hear the cd-rom spining.. and then play again.. and then stop.. (the orange light comes on too).. but then when i put it in the burner.. it'll play fine.. also it wont let me burn cd to cd anymore.. donno if its cuz of the newest version of nero or what.. but that i probly can just do a clean install of the new nero.. well.. i was just wondering whats wrong with my cd-rom drive.. some of my other old vcds will play fine too.. but some will skips like how i said.. plz help..

Sounds like it is dirty. I recommend you take the drive apart and clean the lense with a q-tip and some compressed air (be careful the lense is very fragile).

Is there another computer around you could test these cd's in? Do you have any problems playing any other cd's in it?
