Allright, you guys are my last hope. tonight when i got home and got on my computer I noticed the black band all the way around my desktop display like i get when i use a low refresh rate.(edge of display not full). so went to my display properties to change the refresh rate and it opened on themes but the tabs for appearance, screensaver, settings etc. have dissapeared. so i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. still nothing. when i try to play a game i get a message stating my direct3d is not enabled or opengl is disabled. i really need some help here. this is frustrating.
system specs
ecs k7s5a

I don't think your card is bad...

Is your version of Windows XP a legit version? Usually, a lot of bad things happen with illegal versions after awhile (like my Windows Media Player is jacked up, System Restore is jacked up, Help and Support is jacked up, Windows Update is jacked up, etc...)

yep it's legit. last night i formatted and reinstalled windows. after reinstalling my ati drivers.. all is well again:')..sometimes I don't get it. I am one of those people that must conquer or else. instead of just waiting until today to mess with it i stayed up all night trying different stuff before finally breaking down and doing a clean install
