Yea, aspartame has a short shelf-life(120days) and some of it always breaks down into formaldehyde, it has a very gross chemical-y taste to me, no matter how fresh it is.

If its exposed to temps as low as 86F+ aspartame breaks down.

Diet soda is just gross to me.

I agree with DaShen it sounds like there is an aspartame withdraw component. Since caffeine is a diuretic and your body adjusts to like 300mg of caffeine a day... I can see why your pee'ing so much.

It's good for you, keep going. Diet pepsi actually makes you fat, I can't believe you were drinking that all this time. If you want to look/feel better about yourself (and I assume you do from your other gf thread) then cut out all pops all together, or limit it to like once a week when your having a nice meal and want to drink some, but DONT DRINK DIET!!! It has ****** in it that actually makes you fatter.

Diet pepsi has ZERO calories.

It does not make you fat. People in their mind think that since they are taking zero calories from that soda, they can eat another burger or another slice of pie, or much larger portions, etc. The soda doesnt do it, its their faulty sense of reasoning.

Try drinking the carbonated, flavored, sucralose-sweetened waters as a intermediate solution. Nearly every store has its own generic brand, I prefered one from Walmart. You still have the carbonation, flavor, and some sweetness, but no caffine! Then just start drinking water....you'll get used to it easier!

Caffine is bad for you!

Nah, I'd rather stick to the plain old water. I am sure I can do it. Plus I really liked the fact that I saved 5 bucks yesterday...call me a cheap ass, but saving the money will probably be my biggest helper. lol

after a week you should take the $ you saved and treat yourself to some good tasting water at home and get a good faucet or pitcher filter.

Diet soda make you fat because they make you crave sugar.

You drink the soda, your body thinks you just ingested 27-30grams of sugars, so it releases insulin to prepare. Then the soda digest and of course, there is no sugar, it was sugar-flavored. So your blood sugar gets messed up, and you get massive sugar cravings. This was in my first year psych book in a section about physiological responses ffs. Should be common knowledge.

Sugar cravings will not help you diet, thats for sure.

because soda doesnt contain water... AM I RIGHT?!

it sounds like you drank too much water, which can lead to water poisoning. cut back on the water, or eat a saltine or something if you plan on drinking your body weight in water.

and yes your skin can be allergic to water, there has been at least one documented case 😛

I've been consuming much more water than I have been soda...dunno why. I keep going back and forth to the water cooler. I had about 4 plastic coffee sized cups since 8:30 this morning. Doesn't seem like much though...

Since I had to get into a routine of keeping my body hydrated, I now drink so much water throughout the day, but I still do consume pops every now and then, like when eating certain foods.. but I try to keep my intake limited to mostly only water, powerade, and milk. I generally feel a lot better, although I still need caffeine intake, so I drink coffee and take no-doz.

lol, "pops"

I was like "Pops? Like ice pops? why would he mention that...."

😛

lol
them ice pops are unhealthy and addicting, lemme tell ya! 😉

we don't say soda or cola 'round these parts.. we say pop. ?😀

That is the biggest medical pile of ****** ive heard in a while.

I honestly feel sick to the stomach after drinking water all day yesterday. I feel like its poisoning me (ill to my stomach) and I pee'd so much this morning I swear the toilet was gonna flush on it's own.

The excess peeing is normal. Water hydrates the body, helps mobilize lipids and boosts the metabolism. You're body is flushing out the toxins.

Between coffee and pure water, I drink > 1 gallon a day and I pee a lot.

good ole caffeine withdrawl, you'll feel better in a few days. btw, congrats on quitting the liquid poison known as "diet" soda.

There is absolutely no proof of anything you just said.
Seriously, if it is common knowledge, how come every single study linking aspartame to any sort of physiological response outside those with PKU has failed?

Quit spreading FUD.
Freshman pysch course my ass.

As someone already mentioned just flavor the water with something you like. Buy a blender and peal your favorite fruit and blend it with a teaspoon of sugar and fill it half way with water, etc. Grapefruit, orange, lemon, pineapple, peaches etc. I do that like twice a week and flavor my water with other things as well because like others have said water by itself tastes like crap after a while especially with the smell and after tastes it has being treated etc. Nothing wrong with that water it just hard to drink sometimes.

Agreed with what you say, but just a cursory view of the ingredient list is enough to turn me back, unless I'm mixing with rum (and it has to be coke, not pepsi).
