i went to a lan party at my friends house and my computer was working fine. i came home and put my computer together the next morning. i turned it on and halfway through starting up it just shut off. i tried this about 5 times and it did the same thing each time. i finally had to reset my bios to get it to restart.

so i went back into my bios and reset my multipliers to get my processor back up to speed and eerything then restarted agian. it worked but i forgot to disable the floppy drive. since i do not have one it just hangs there telling me my floppy drive failed. so i go back into the bios to change that but when i saved and exited the bios all i got was a bunch of wierd symbols. a spade and stuff like that. and i had to push the reset button.

now everytime i go to change that it does not save it it just give me that screen.

do it sound like my bios is on the way out.

i have an asus a7n8x rev1.0 i do not want to flash the bios or anything i hae had some bad luck and killed to mobos that way.

edit: the computer works after i reset the bios, but i am just woried that my bios may fail soon.

Well, there's little we can tell you if you don't want to flash the BIOS. It sounds to me like you might need to definitely do that. If not, try a new Power Supply. It might be having problems with that.

i have an antec 400. it is only a few months old. i also have a antec 300 watt supply but i am a little bit hesitant(sp?) about running that one since i have 2 HDs 2 CD drives and a 6800 gt in the system. i so not know if it could handle everything.

if i had to i could flash the bios. i just don't want to because of my bad luck in the past.
