Is my Belkin F5D6000 PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter useless?

Belkin claims that it will only work with Belkin v1 WiFi cards, but I've been told that it is 100% false. People keep saying that it works with all of their WiFi cards and I haven't been told that it'll only work with other Prism2 chipset WiFi cards (Though that would be anyone's first question, so it must have been answered somewhere...).

Windows detects it as a "Network Interface" or something even with no WiFi card inserted. When other people claim to have success getting it to work, who's drivers are they using? Belkin does not provide a driver for the F5D6000 on their site (My CD is always a couple miles away) so I can't even use it as a WiFi adapter for the junk Belkin cards it was intended for.

Could a driver possibly enable this as a genuine PCMCIA bus for various devices?

I called tech support, and it turns out that my pcmcia wireless F5D6020 is version 2 and it has to be version 1 to work with the F5D6000 pci adapter. the F5D6000 pci adapter will not work with anything else? So my question is, why would you make it removable if it will not work with anything else. So I wasted $40 cause this is basically trash unless I spend another $40 to buy the version 1 of F5D6020 card.
