is my 3dmark05 too low?

I would say it is a very low score since I score ~6500 in 3DMark06 with a X1900XTX

There is definitely something wrong.

Uninstall drivers, use driver cleaner, reinstall latest drivers.

Make sure the bus is running at 16x; this is actually a very very common problem, especially on the DS3. You can check the bus speed in the Nvidia CP by going to Help->System Info.

If it's running at 1x, try upping the voltage for the bus and mch.

I score about 7500 with an Opteron 1212, 2gb ram, and the 320mb version. Yes there is something wrong, because conroe based chips usually make mine look pathetic.

I assume you're talking about 06..this guy is talking about 05 and getting 7800gt-ish scores.
