you've obviously lived here? ...and it's actually worse than places like Philly and Pittsburg? lolno.

housing is certainly more expensive here than in the Midwest. but not all of the Bay Area is the same. The range is astronomical, in fact. and overall C0L?

lolno. again: horseshit.

nope, but i hear/see enough from the news, people who have lived there (an uncle), and other sources of info about the kind of BS.

I wouldn't move there JUST because of their shitty ass gun laws.

Anyone who doesn't want to move here either can't afford it or is some antisocial hermit. There's no better place in the USA to live.

That being said, GTFO, we don't need any more people.

😀

It's so true. You have California attitude down.

I will never consider myself a native, but there is a lot of truth (and necessity) to this type of thought pattern.

Are you married with 2+ children? You should have stated that in the first post, but it didn't sound like it as you can apparently just up and move.

that wouldn't even make a difference. starting CoL where he is, would already include married + kids, and new place would be the same CoL comparison.

The horsehit part is that anywhere would = a $35k difference--that is asinine.

I assume that OP calculated his current 8k sq foot house, wanted the same situation in the Bay Area, and will only accept that this is the only option available to him, because that's what he expects.

That, simply, is not how CoL works, my friend. Frankly--that is simply not available. You won't find it--period. It doesn't exist, therefore--it is not a relevant comparison. Inability to adapt to the real environment tends to retard and bias these calculations.

What you lose in square footage for your house, you gain in activity--you no longer live in a flat, desolate wasteland of corn fields and cheese curd-eating scandinavians, that only the most insane would want to habit. There are mountains. There is an ocean. There are...bodies of water. There is skiing and surfing, there is wine country and produce (most of your produce comes from CA. All you have is wheat, and corn that only cows can eat) and fresh dairy and overly-coddled meat.

One must consider these things.

But yeah--no jobs, and it's too fucking crowded. So stay away.

What the hell is CoL?

Cost of Living - which for some reason dirt-poor Zin think's he is some sort of expert on.

It' not at all unreasonable to say the cost of living change, going from Milwaukee to the bay area, is in the 35k range. The only thing that's asinine about it is getting all fussed up about denying it.
