Is modern progressivism incompatible with Christianity?

Is that why there is such a war on religion?(Specifically the Christians?)

Submission to Governing Authorities
1Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. Through taxation progressives steal "legally" from the citizens.

6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

You should have stopped right there

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Progressives covet EVERYTHING and want it for themselves. It's not FAIR that someone has something.

Ananias and Sapphira

From 2 Cor 9:

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”[a]

Surely you don't tell anyone about your charitable donations, and you would still do it even if there was no tax exemption.

Matthew 6
Giving to the Needy
1“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

They do not freely give their own money, but want (through the use of force) everyone else to give.

Luke 20
Paying Taxes to Caesar
20Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. 21So the spies questioned him: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. 22Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
23He saw through their duplicity and said to them, 24“Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?”

freedom and democracy work great until certain slicksters (banksters) abuse that freedom at the expense of their neighbor.

Continuing:

1 Sam 8:11-18

He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16Your male and female servants and the best of your cattlec and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”


Progressives want a king, an all powerful dictator and a tyranny of power, so long as they're the ones in power....

Since the people didn't want to follow God's laws according to His will but instead twisted it for their own gain and selfish reasons, He took away their freedom and appointed them a King to rule over them.

Thanks 1prophet, those are some good verses i'm going to look into in a bit more detail. I hadn't read some of them before!

Sounds to me they support my original position the way i read them; though I can't tell if that was your intent.
