is it pin compatible?? will it work if i stick this in my mobo? newegg has the 1700+ tbred mobile

Yes but they are only recgnised with 5x multiplier (lowest powernow setting). Dont waste your time get a fast tbred and just underclock if you want less heat.

Mingon may be right but not in all cases. Soyo released a BIOS for the Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition for the low powered XP processors. Check your mainboard mfr and see if they didn't do the same.

he may want it for the overclocking...running 1.46ghz at the lower voltage has a high chance of overclocking high with also a low voltage...

if its not multiplier locked, cant i just raise it up?? and raise the voltage, mess around with the FSB. etc..

I used my 2000xp mobile chip in a shuttle sn41g2. As I said it defaulted to 5 or 5.5 multiplier and was running 1.6v. Wasnt really worth the hassle.
