just because you are a noob doesnt mean you have to settle for junk. i work for a webhosting company and i would highly discourage the use of frontpage. dreamweaver or homesite for starters.

it's ok to learn on. easy to use. it does weird stuff to html though. basically to make pages incompatable with browsers other than IE as much as possible

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 = $399

MS FrontPage = $199

Depending on your budget, this info might help ifesfor :)

Unless you are only looking to make a simple page and never get into serious web design, I would STRONGLY consider learning basic HTML coding (as advanced as complex table work and forms) before using ANY program. It's a lot easier to understand what is going on when you do that, and should frontpage screw up (and it will) it will be a lot easier to fix its mistakes.

Just a suggestion.

But if you want to ignore it, yes, frontpage is excellent to start with. If you can use MS word, you can use frontpage.

If you actually would like to learn what you are doing and design a page, then no, frontpage is horrible. Use a text editor sich as vim, pico, notepad, or emacs.

If you just want something to throw up a quick page and don't care how it works "behind the scenes" then it's just fine and will suit your needs very well.
