Victory isn't a given for Barack, but it's getting to the point where McCain needs a bonafide miracle to win on election day.

So assuming McCain doesn't win, what will be his legacy when the race is over? His situation is a unique one, running against the first African American major party nominee for President. His campaign has been called one of the dirtiest in history, repeating outright lies without blinking.

McCain and Palin are breeding outright hatred for Obama amongst their supporters, drawing chants of terrorist, kill him, etc, that draw comparisons to our country's ugly history involving racism and xenophobia.

Will McCain return to the Senate briefly, then retire? Will he mend fences and finish out his career in Congress? Will people trust his judgment if he and Palin lose colossally in November?

He's a senior senator. He ain't going nowhere. He's got nowhere else to go. He hasn't cultivated the kind of committee chairs that would make him filthy rich as a lobbyist.

His net worth is already in the mid to high 8 digits. Money isn't really a concern for him anymore.

McCain sealed his legacy when he selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. He had been known as someone that was moderate, that had the ability to reach across party lines to do what was best for the country. When he picked Palin he destroyed that legacy and created a new one- A pandering politician looking to appease the base that never accepted him.

McCain had a golden opportunity and he blew it royally. I hope it costs him the election.

He really cashed in any moral chips he had this week.

McCain is using the SAME robo-call firm that Bush used in the 2000 smear campaign against him.

He's done a 180 flip on every moral standard he said he would hold himself to.

This is by far the most morally bankrupt campaign I've ever seen.

The saddest thing of all is McCain could have been in a MUCH better position at this point in the campaign if he were a patient man.

Part of our electorate has NEVER been sold on Obama, they still aren't. All McCain needed to do was present himself as the safe choice and the polls would inevitably close his way as Election Day closed nearer and nearer. Instead, he picked Palin and managed to make himself look riskier than Obama.

If anything will be remembered it will be how poorly he ran his campaign.

I really and truly wonder how anyone can believe those blantant lies of his that were proven to be lies beyond doubt yet he kept repeating them....Well, on second thought, this forum proves those fruitcakes are out there, and they're out there in numbers too.

Just goes to show how powerful lies, when spoken as fact, can be.
