Is lojack worth it?

I have that as an option.. one of the dealers adds it on all cars.
dealers add it on as part of the price, but i guess i can opt out if needed.
The honda dealer adds lo jack, bluetooth and an alarm system for 1500 dollars. I am wondering if low jack is worth it?

I'm not sure what application bluetooth is for here, but you may want to consider an alternative or two to the lojack/alarm. That sounds a little expensive. How about a regular Viper alarm system? They have a gps module called the 210V that will integrate with any of their systems, providing the same functionality as lojack, and will work in any area with cell reception. If you can knock a few hundred off of thier "deal", then it may not be so bad.

Strange, it was a $500 option for me back in 2000. They also give you your money back if it isn't recovered, not that its going to make you feel any better.

What's the point? So you can find your stripped shell faster? Take that money and use it towards lower comprehensive deductible.

Awesome. I'd love to collect $500 for each car sold in the US and give the car's price back to people who have their car stolen. I'd make off like a bandit.

The chances of your car ever being stolent are minimal. It depends on make, too.

 
Sounds to me like your dealer is padding his MSRP, good luck getting them to take it off. On the positive side, lojack/bluetooth/the alarm may be more useful than the fancy finish treatment and/or undercoating dealers traditionally use to pad their margins.

In my area now the hot new padding item is etching your VIN into the windshield-usually runs $200 & has some bogus insurance type plan if the car is stolen.
 
I've always felt Lojack was essentially only useful for your insurance company. I've had a car stolen and stripped, and personally once it's been stolen and driven like crap by idiots, I figure I probably don't want my car back anyway.
