So I've owned left 4 dead for a couple of years now ...but never really got around to playing it as result of having a huge backlog of games. Last night, I was watching the walking dead series and an urge came over to try the left for dead series. So i have a couple of questions.

Is left for dead a multiplayer game only? I started the single player campaign but there are 3 other players with me. Maybe it's computer A.I i'm not sure.

Another thing whats up with the jumping in this game I can jump all the way from the ground and scale over semi-trailers. It's a floaty feel kind of like princess peach from Super Mario Bros 2. I'm wondering if this is the gameplay mechanics of left 4 dead or a player hack for enhanced abilities.

If you play single player, you have 3 AI companions. There are always 4 Survivors (unless they die, in which case they respawn in the next safe room). I always thought it was pretty obvious that they were AI.

You can jump pretty high.

The game is OK single player, and great with 3 friends. Left 4 Dead 2 (again, with 4 human players) is even better. Playing with random strangers on the internet was terrible, in my experience.

L4D is co-op, if you don't have humans to play with, it will throw in bots instead.

So you can play it single player.

Of course the bots are almost useless in some situations. Like in LFD2 when you have to get gasoline for the car.
