I already have the first one but don't like the new characters in Left 4 Dead 2 though I can get the boxed retail version for $15. Is it worth getting?

most of my friends that hated the characters going in actually came around to love them

the greatest value in the game is its Vs. mode, although its not everyone's cup of tea as you really need some good friends to play with to keep the fun factor greater than the frustration

otherwise the campaigns are good playthroughs and should still net you more playtime than your average FPS (albeit with a far less rewarding story line)

Hell no it's not worth $15, don't listen to these other people telling you yes. Now with that said, you should tell me where it's $15 so I can warn other people not to get it either...

If you love the first. Sure.

I own both and play them the same amount. I got the second for $30 and the first for $8.

However if $15 is a sale price. I'd like to know where if it's an on sale price as I have a friend who I showed and let play L4D1 & 2 and he's hooked. If it's used.....Better hope the key isn't used.

For $15, absolutely.

I enjoyed the campaigns a lot more than the first one. They seemed to have a lot more depth and flow together much better - rather than "we're in a city surrounded by zombies" it felt more like "how can we get to such-and-such a place and figure out if the entire world is infected, or just this area?" I found the Survival mode areas much more enjoyable than L4D, though I do miss Last Stand (lighthouse). Versus is better in one way, and worse in another. Having more special infected to "choose from" (randomly assigned) is nice, but every now and then you wish you could just get the normal smoker, boomer, hunter(s) combo for a quick kill. There's nothing worse than getting a charger in a small room full of obstacles or a jockey in a wide open area with no cover.

Character wise, the original was much better. The voice acting seemed a bit better, and the characters generally seemed to get along and interact through dialog better than the new crew. I find that Coach and Nick are somewhat enjoyable, and Ellis isn't too bad. Rochelle is far more annoying that Zoe ever could have been, though. For a game that's not about NPC interactions, it's something I can overlook.

Having more weapons available (not just melee weapons) was a plus, though I wish they had less similarities to make the choice more difficult (for example, one sniper rifle could be extremely powerful, killing any special infected other than the tank in one hit, but take a very long time to reload). Melee weapons are so-so. Sometimes they feel overpowered, and sometimes they feel useless.

Overall, I wouldn't pay $40-50 for it, but I feel anywhere around $20-30ish is perfect. $15 is a steal.

Yes it is.

agree. Lots of reply value! Lots of different game modes, VS mode alone is awesome with 8 friends playing!

Not to mention DL content

It's still the few boring maps as the first, same few weapons that aren't that different from each other, same tactics. There's still just not enough variety. It's fun for sure but gets old extremely quicky. I'm already bored of it just like how I got bored of the first one quickly.

The only reason I bought 2 was to play with some friends at PDXLan 15. We played for maybe 2 hours out of the 4 day trip and that's it. What a waste. I played the hell out of the first one and got bored. The 2nd one was almost instantly boring. If I could go back in time and tell myself not to bother wasting the money, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

My friend has it and he keeps telling me to get it so we can play together. I've passed it up a couple times when it was $30, so I could wait for it to go down to $20 or under. If I could get it for $15...
