is LAME still the best way to encode mp3's?

i'm still using CD-DAE to extract, and Razorlame to encode. is this still the best method?

If you're still using MP3's, yes.

These days I'm using EAC to rip & encoding MP4/AAC files with Nero's AAC plugin.

They sound better than my old 320 VBR Lame MP3's and they're about 10% smaller.
