Is Kiva the real deal?

I heard of kiva yesterday. It's like prosper but the best you can do is get your money back and in theory lend it out again; it's a charity event; you don't do it to make any money. I looked on wiki and it has a 98% payback rate, which seems very high to me. Either it's not the real deal or these people in these countries are being beheaded if they don't pay back loans, right? Is kiva what it seems?

Yeah, it's legit.

That reminds me, I need to go reloan the money that's come back in.

I put 1250 into 5 loans. So far all are paying back on time.

Yes, Kiva is legit. I just did 2 reloans recently.
