Is Kirkland Vodka the same as Grey Goose Vodka?

Next time I have a party, I'll just pour Burnett's into a Grey Goose bottle, see if anyone calls me on it. I am guessing not.

Unless you are an elite vodka drinker, you probably wont' be able to tell the difference between the various $20+ vodka

If you can't taste the difference between say Stoli and Popov, then you should just /yourself

Burnett's Vodka, Burnett's Gin and Evan Williams Bourbon all come from the same distillery and they're all exceptional values. They're easily as good as the big names at half the price.

Yeah, Evan Williams is highly comparable to JD. I like it.

I love JD, but I cannot drink Evan. :disgust:

I don't know what it is about Evan, but the taste is horrible. Relatively speaking of course. I would never spend money on Evan. I must have had a bad experience with Evan that I can't quite remember 😛

As far as bargain alcohol, I regularly drink Kentucky Gentleman...12.99 for 1.75L of bourbon I can drink straight.

And I am NOT a vodka drinker...but smirnoff tastes soooooooooooooooooooo bad. I would rather have popov.

smirnoff has decent flavored vodkas though, but in the rare case that I spend money on vodka it's going to be stoli...good stuff.

Most of the symptoms of a hangover are from dehydration. This doesn't have to do with cheap or expensive vodka.

So having more toxins that deplete your body?s natural resources doesn't help dehydrate or have an adverse affect on you vs. something that has fewer toxins? You are dead on about the dehydration though. It is the number one reason for hangovers. But there is something to the fact that you're drinking something that is worse for your body.

Also note that cheaper liquor is a lot of times a blend of cheap ingredients which allow more impurities. The cheap liquor can also have a very high amount of sugar which could lead to that sick feeling. If you start with inferior raw ingredients, products, production and storage..... it's safe to assume you end up with a lesser product.

It's also believed that cheap brands don't throw out the head and tail of the batch and that cause a lot of impurities. Quality makers throw out the first and last of the batch.

Did you know Red Wine can give you a headache more so than white wine?

Bargain alcohol yes, bourbon no. They might legally get to call it bourbon, but it isn't. It's only 51% bourbon.

all vodka is the same. Any differences in brand is just marketing. There've been surveys done where people taking blind taste tests couldn't differentiate between Popov and Goose, Absolute, Smirnoff, or Svedka.

Yes, but as has been discussed ad infinitum, those surveys were done with mixed drinks. If you are buying top shelf vodka, you'd better be drinking it straight or else that's like slathering ketchup on a steak.
