is it wrong that I don't care at all about the olympics?

No.

I usually don't care about the Olympics, but will try to watch some basketball now because the USA has sucked for a while, but now has a chance at the Gold. Also, I might pay a little more attention for the China controversy.

No, I don't give a shit about anything sports related. Never have, probably never will.
did you hate the jocks in school too? :p

Not the intelligent, achieving, good ones. Just the idiot ones and the egocentric sports worshipers.

I have no problems with someone liking sports; I do have a problem with people that think they matter to anyone else, deserve special consideration, or should be allowed to detract from things that actually matter (like education).

I haven't cared about the Olympics since I was a little kid and cared because I thought I was supposed to. By the time I was a teenager I realized it was basically international dick waving and a propaganda tool.

So I'm the only one? I love the Olympics. I'm not standing at home waving an American flag while I watch, but, DAMN, these come around once every four years and probably for that reason are the most prestigious award you can receive for athletic achievement. Considering that most athletes have one shot at the Olympics while they are at their absolute peak physical condition the pressure, intensity, and immediacy of those 42 seconds around the track, the culmination of a decade of training and hoping, is almost tangible. And when you see a competitor pierce through that tension, summon up all his strength and faith, and cross the line first, regardless of which country he is from, you've just got to be moved.

So either most of you are useless blobs who hate seeing people excel or are just downing the Olympics because you think it's cool to. Regardless, when you watch the final handoff of the men's 4x100 and see those runners flexing every fiber in their being to get to the line first your heart will be pounding.

Nope, you are not the only one. I love the Olympics too. It's great to see people taking pride in their country, both athletes representing their country and people cheering for athletes from their country. It's also great to see so many different sports, many you don't get to see on TV at all. You see men and women archiving so many amazing stuff, challenging human limitations, speed, skills, strength. It's really awesome.

Me 3. I love the Olympics. In fact, as I've grown older I have come to love them even more.

I like watching the Olympics, I always thought it was cool seeing people run really fast or doing all those crazy gymnastic moves and such as a little kid. I'm also interested in the track and field stuff since I run too... it's neat seeing people run ridiculously fast times.

No, it really won't, because they aren't doing anything worth a shit. They aren't curing cancer, they aren't defending the weak and infirm...they're just running around a track, or bouncing a ball. It's completely meaningless and to many it isn't in any way entertaining.

Yeah, they're in good physical shape, but so are tons of people who never played a sport in their life. Sure, they represent dedication to something, but so does a spouse, a minister, a teacher, a cop, etc. Represent America? Meh. Maybe a military member does, or a member of peace corps...but I prefer not to be represented by someone that thinks sports matter at all.

I understand some people like it, and that's fine. But don't think everyone does, or that there's any factual reason you should. It's a personal opinion only.
