How come countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Eygpt etc... aren't sending massive aid like the rest of the world? Are they only good at promoting Jihad and telling people to strap bombs to themselves?

How do you know that Saudi Arabia or any of the countries you have listed have not sent aid?

I sure as heck haven't heard anything about it.

Perhaps you should do some research then. The real news does not come to you.

Saudi Arabia USD 10m
United Arab Emirates USD 2.0m

Theres more. Look here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H...ndian_Ocean_earthquake

Actually, your supporting my point even more

Your not even really addressing the countries I listed have you except for Saudi Arabia, and their contribution is pathetic Saudi Arabia the biggest oil Tacoon in the middle east with only 10 million?
*yawn* are they contributing manpower? All that oil and they can muster barely 12 million combined. Tiny Tiawan alone is closing in on 60 million. South Korea closing in on 200 million.

Iran? They can funnel millions of dollars to terrorist yet they can't can't even come up with a lousy million for a fellow muslim country in need?

Syria, nope nothing about them in your link

Eygpt. Nothing about them either in your link.

Thanks for doing the research and supporting my point even more

Actually, ignorant is not reading the thread completely and just assuming that the poster is either ignorant or racist.

I'm pointing out that the countries that crank out the most amount of Jihad bombers in the name of defending defending muslims against us are ironically lacking in support for a fellow muslim country in need. Is there something ignorant or racist about that?

I have no problem with my country's commitment.
the more the better.
I think the US should pony up more.

It would be a good gesture to muslims that they have been attacking for years (afganistan, iraq, palestine)
right or wrong...they are putting $150billion into iraq and $300million into a real disaster...

The M.E has sent aid to the region (they've sent money), and it is sufficient with how they live. If you look beyond the M.E you will see almost every country is limited in what they can do.

The countries that generate a lot of money are having a donation war. The ones that live an average lifestyle are limited in how much money they can send.

The U.S = Microsoft
The M.E = AOL (Alone -TW)

Microsoft has billions of dollars to invest, spend. AOL cannot afford to throw away billions of dollars for investment/spending.

Isn't it ironic ... Isn't it ironic...

Canada with an economy less than 9.1% of the US's; is donating ~50% the US. (taking into account private and public donations)

The US feels the need to play a dominent role in foreign policy.
Yet when it comes to a real disaster, the US is minimally there.
I guess the US does not feel the need to prove to the world it isn't a war monger.

When 9/11 happened, the rest of the world was there in afganistan.
Now the world is hit with a disaster...how do you think you should react.

I think this is a great opportunity for redemption

we are not finished with our monetary support. i would bet you some cash right here on the spot that we will donate 1 billion dollars by the time this is done. we will be tops in all forms of relief.
last year we gave FORTY PERCENT OF THE TOTAL RELIEF DOLLARS OVER ALL IN THE WORLD!

would that satisfy you?

Agreed.

I feel as bad as the next person about this, but I'd like to see it pointed out to me by ANY of my servants, congress men and women, where, just where in the Constitution is given the power to give MY money to charity. You want to donate? Fine, knock yourself out. You want to give your time to help out? Get on a plane. How about we take that $350mil and secure our borders? Keep bad guys from bringing CBR weapons across the border. How about we take that $350mil and make sure our boys have body armor and armored fvcking Humvees? Keep more of them alive to live productive, happy lives. That IS the job of those Congress men and women, to guard this country and to ensure the protection of it's citizens.

We're going to end up spending so much money on this that it won't be mildly amusing - I bet it tops $1Bil before it's all over - and yeah, I include the money that it costs to keep our military in the area, that sh!t ain't free ya know.

Call me goofy, but I don't recall all of the aid pouring in from these countries during the hurricane horror show across Florida this past summer... How many BILLIONS did THAT cost? How many people from these countries jumped online to hit amazon.com to donate their hard earned cash to the United States?

Man, it gets old always being WRONG as an American. No matter if I'm giving money or giving blood, I'm wrong - didn't give enough, didn't give it fast enough, didn't fly my fvcking flags at half mast, didnt' didn't didn't.... Please. They can all pack sand.

Next time I'll try not to sugar coat it.

Actually the experts are saying that the aid now is what is going to determine the size of the catastophe.
As there is tons of disease, no food, and no medication...

Giving later is a patchwork job...and we are all going to give monetary support.
Look at the numbers now...they matter.

Giving later is a "patchwork job"? are you nutz? there is nothing wrong with giving money in timely increments.

sometimes it is cheaper to buy an acura and pay minimal maintinence than buying a lemon and trying to make it run.

The amount and timeliness in the aid is paramount.
Unless you want to end up paying more in costs, lives, and suffering...

Listen to the news, listen to the UN task force, listen to the experts.
In the end you will probably pay the most...woopee do.
The rich pay the most taxes in the US as well...The US is the richest nation in the world.

Fall in line with the rest of the countries and notice that $1.6 per person right now is not going to cut it for a superpower.

I really doubt the U.S. government cares about what has happened, they are donating because everyone is doing it and they feel obligated to do the same. U.S. foreign policy decisions are heavily based on the U.S. government?s best interests (if you think the war in Iraq is for the "liberation" of the Iraqi people or making America "safer", then you're an idiot). The U.S. doesn't give a flying rat?s ass about Iraqis, and I really doubt the U.S. government was really excited about donating to the victims of the tsunami because they really don't get anything out of it except looking thoughtful. The international community sees passed that though. They know that the U.S. treats the rest of the world like its bitch. So when you criticize other countries about their donations and how they don't care about their fellow Muslims , just keep in mind that the U.S. doesn't really give a sh1t about anyone about anyone except themselves.
