Is it worth the wait for a GTX 950 Ti?

What you guys think I keep hearing the 950 ti will just be an over clocked 750 rebranded.

So I dunno....

Do you guys think I should just pick up a used R9 270 on amazon for $95? or buy a new GTX 950 or 750

R9 270 goes pretty cheap on amazon lately

My max budget on a video card would be around $150 US

Why? R9 270 with 3 free games going as low as $99 on Newegg and offering 31% more performance at 1080p than the 750Ti, just wait for another such deal. If 950Ti is way better, you can always upgrade.

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=14-131-545

As a side-note, low-end AMD and NV cards are always bad value at launch. Even when 950Ti debutes, it will probably be $149 but cards like R9 280/280X/760 will not be much more expensive with more performance most likely. Generally speaking low end cards like 750Ti are best to buy 5-6 months after launch when they drop to $99.

If your max budget is $150, you can easily find a used 7950/7970/R9 280. I've even seen R9 280X go down that low. Be on the look out for Newegg deals. Cards like MSI Gaming 280 were $156 with 3 free games for months now. You just missed those sales but they will be back.

newegg don't accept international credit card infact they won't sell anyone with a IP address outside of the US.

I use Amazon and freight forwarder to ship to the Caribbean. Amazon never has an issue with accepting international credit cards

You can find the exact same card on Amazon usually and there is a button/option at the bottom to report a lower price and where you have seen it. After Amazon tends to readjust the price to match Newegg. However, I guess in your case a rebate is out of the question then. See if you can find a used 280/280X/7950/7970 on EBay. Go for MSI Gaming/Twin Frozr/Gigabyte Windforce models. For 280/280X the Asus DCUII is also good.

Could be a long wait :) If they follow what they did this time round, it'd mean no 950ti until they've trying out an early version of their next gen stuff.

Won't be a for a bit that. That'll certainly be the first chance for a major improvement over the 750ti.

No.

You don't know what it is. You don't know when it will be out. You don't even know that it will be out..

Could probably get similar performance if you buy used, got a 670 for 100 eu + shipping. Ex mining 290's go for 150,- eu. Might have a lot of milage, but still have warranty so who cares :)

I notice many of these were used for ex mining.

I wonder how serious the damages are to these cards? I would need a card to last me around 5 years or so.

Guys I bought this for $55 with free shipping

condition used like new. Seller is rated as just launched so its a little risky but its fullfilled by amazon so I am safe with that part. Just have to hope it boots up when I get it.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am also buying it because my HD 4870 is 6 years old might even be turning 7 years since manufacture. That means I don't know how long the fan in this cooler will even last or capacitors so will replace with the 7850 and sell my old HD 4870 before it dies. Might get $17 for it.

Op is going to be running an i3 though, and i3 + R9 280 got horrible performance together on COD AW. On the Eurogamer.net review of the game they said i3's seem to work a lot better with Nvidia cards like the GTX 760.

This is a great option.

Just sold my old 670 for ~$120. That is still a great card, honestly.

Guys see my post on this thread I just bought the HD 7850 for $55 free shipping.

I think it was a great deal just hope it works cause its a used card but its like new it apparently was never used just open box. Its XFX Ghost 7850 1GB

Now I can use the extra cash for a i3 4150 cause this dual core pentium G 3220 stinks on a whole new level

That's a good decision because I don't think you were going to see a 950Ti or 960 before Christmas this year. I think nVidia is done releasing new graphics cards for this year.

We are suppose to see 8GB AMD Radeon 290X and nVidia may counter this with a 8GB GTX 980 but that is outside of the discussion here.

hey yeah and I want to assume this HD 7850 would be a a noticeable upgrade over my current 512MB HD 4870 right?

$55 bucks was such a steal. And I bet it could play any current game and previous ones from the last 4 years aswell. I have lots of catching up to do. This card looks sexy, xfx makes some sexy coolers

I only need something for the while, when I change this card I would have finished school and have a Job etc so when that time reach I am going full out i7 and Cross Fire R9 790X or whatever would be the card in 5 years from now

Plus my 4870 is so old I am sure it would give out in a couple years from now if not sooner, I could get about $20 for it from someone needing a old gpu to fix up a old pc. If I do that this 7850 would in reality cost me $35 LOL meh whatever I get for the 4870 I will take

a 7850 should have no problems running any game, at appropriate settings of course.

I don't see it becoming problematic in the near future either, the weaksauce xbone will make sure of that.

The 7850 is a great card, but with 1GB it will have a hard time running recent games.

But for the money and the games he has to catch up to, it will do fine.

^ yeah I usually run games now on Medium settings, medium in 2014 looks really nice compared to many years ago.

And with all these console ports coming out it looks like another xbox 360 and ps3 era for PC gamers where ports were just straight up console ports.

Look at advanced warfare even with all the crap hype from activision about next gen Engine, it actually runs on max settings on a R7 260x AKA HD 7850

I know with $55 I paid, selling this HD 7850 won't be an issue when the time comes. my HD 4870 was just so ancient and drivers were pretty bad aswell even new ones I think is bad, AMD probably abandoned that card a while back.

I am using it for now my next upgrade will be a massive cross fire setup, I don't even have time to play more than 2 hours a game these days due to college anyways. So with 4 years of catching up on games and then some call of duty which seems to be played for countless years online I think I will do fine to preoccupy myself in spare time till i finish school :D
