Is it worth the upgrade

Hey guys, back with a quick and simple(might be complex) question. I run a small computer buisness, www.stechservices.com. With it, I try to be on the cutting edge, well near it if I can, of technology. I have no problem suggesting 64bit processing, a better agp card, more ram, more hard drive space, but I am having a slight problem with myself.

I want to be able to suggest 64bit processing in the matter of new chipsets, including DDR2, PCI-e, and possibly SLI systems. So my question is this, first off, from my system that is in my sig, is it worth the upgrade to go to 939, DDR2, and PCI-E? Simple question - is it worth it? I want to explore the possibilities of this new technology, but if the cost factor for the upgrade isnt worth it, then I simply wont do it, but if you guys can convince me otherwise, I certainly will! Thanks for all your help in advance!

AMD + DDR2 is a no go, the A64 doesn't support DDR2. Uhm your rig looks more like a gaming rig than one used for business. It really depends on what you're going to use it for, if it's just basic office stuff you allready have overkilled.

your perfectly right, this rig is my gaming rig. My business computer is my lovely Dell 5100 Laptop, which has been very useful and has not required me anything else

I think he's refering to s939 with A64 machines, DDR2 with P4 machines, and PCIe with both?

With s939, I'd say its worth it, because you have the dual core option and dual channel memory, for what its worth. Really depends on what the user wants.

DDR2 for the P4s is pretty worthless.

PCIe? Depends how long the user wants to keep the PCIe motherboard. If they plan to keep that board for 2 years, then they'll definitely want to get a board with PCIe. AGP won't last that long, especially in the high end market. PCIe will give them a lot more flexibility when they want to upgrade a video card when the initial one starts showing its age. From a performance standpoint, there is no difference between AGP 8x and PCIe 16x. What is different is the card availability and longevity of the interface.

For myself, my next motherboard will be a PCIe motherboard, perferably SLI/AMR ready.

so you want a new computer for gaming?

In that case not worth it.
