Is it worth the extra $100+ for the Klipsch 5.1's?

I am in the market for some new speakers in the upcoming weeks and I want to know if it is worth the extra $100+ ($239 vs. $360) for the 5.1's over the 4.1's. I play some games and will watch the occasional DVD on it. Should I just get the 4.1's? Or is it worth it to get the 5.1's?

Well i havn't got the Klipsch but i have got a 5.1 speaker set (DTS3500). Thing is i watch alot of movies on my pc so i like having 5.1 (dolby) on my pc. but for games i wouldn't go for it. There are only two games i know of that support dolby 5.1 and those aren even out yet (ut2003 and doom3). So in games you wont notice the difference. Hope this helps

5.1 isnt really needed for games. unless you plan on a lot of movie-watching, i don't think it is worth it. "regular" music isn't "5.1" anyway. just my $.02

I agree. I own the 4.1's and they are one he|| of a good speaker setup.

As I understand it a lot of games will be going to 5.1 because its easy to do. For instance most xbox games use 5.1
Unreal engine games, Neverwinter Nights, Warcraft3, Americas Army, Morrowind, and Doom3 all use 5.1

So if you are going to be playing a lot of games, yes. If not no.

You also have to consider if you have enough room to place the speakers properly to get the effect.

If you decide to go with a 4.1 setup, get the Logitech Z-560's. They are cheap (compared to Klipsch) and freakin rock!!! I would highly recommend them... look around for reviews on the net and you will see an overwhelming amount of reviews to back this up!
