Tend to look at upgrades based on what the the individual is gaming with now and what the new upgrade compares to their dated product.

Depends on what the individual desires to play and what settings.

Considering the sheer value that exists today at lower price-points -- there really isn't much monetary harm or risk to buy now and could patiently wait for next generation to mature and be more valued price, and yet still enjoy very nice gaming, imho.

There is enough historical precedent and many examples not to buy strictly for a new DirectX or a future forward feature and many lean toward an over-all performance advantage for older DirectX titles with a wonderful bonus of newer generational technologies, and hopefully with improved out-of-the-box features that may enhance visual quality.

There is no right or wrong time to upgrade for all and depends on each individual and their needs.
