Is it worth it trying to repair this laptop?

I've got a Dell Latitude D620 that won't boot. Battery/charging light in the hinge is out (not normal). When you plug in the charger, the battery/charging light just flashes, but never comes on solid. I swapped out both a new battery and a new charger with no luck.

On craigslist they're going for $200-250, I wonder if it's worth it to take it somewhere to get it fixed or try doing it myself?

Are you handy with a soldering iron?

Chances are the power jack has a cracked solder joint and either needs to be repaired or replaced.
Taking this to a repair shop will easily exceed the value of the laptop.
That leaves either yourself or a friend.

It's really not that hard to crack it open and look.

I doubt it's the power jack. We field around 300 D620 and 30's and have never had a cracked power jack.

Charging circuit is bad. It will need a new mainboard.

Yeah, I've taken it completely apart now and I don't see any cracks.

Hmmm, Looks like mobo's start around $170.
