Hello

just wondering whether the Diskdoctor and speeddisk are better than those in win2k?

Good question, I'm unsure myself. I think Norton's Diagnostics and Defrag utilities are slightly better than those included with Windows, but I'm not certain.

Win 2K uses disk keeper for defragmenting as default, right? How fast does it compare to speed disk?

I have Diskkeeper 5 and Norton systemworks Pro 2001 on W2k.

(1) The Norton Utilities 2001 is good, but it is not worth the cost if you only want the speeddisk. The W2K defrag program runs slightly faster than the Norton, but lacks scheduling capacity.

(2) I am very impressed with the SystemWorks 2001, which includes the anti-virus, utilities, cleansweep, ghost and a light edition WinFax. It is listed for $99, but usually was sold close to the price of Norton Utilities alone.

(9) The Ghost 2001 is the best program for migrating to a new hard drive. Fast and totally painless.

I am looking at the diskdoctor and speeddisk only but if win2k defrag is faster then I don't seek the point. I do not schedule since it takes up resources. What to do? I am anal retentive:)

I will have to check out systemwork when the ooportunity arise.

Yup, you have to love Norton Ghost. Much much faster than a clean install.
