Is it worth it to get a new motherboard?

Ok, so about a year ago i build my first system which was a learning expirence for me. When i purchased my motherboard i did not notice that supported only one stick of DDR 400 and i bought 2 sticks (1gb) of Corsair XMS DDR 400. This probalby means that it is only running at the equivilant to DDR 333 right? My motherboard is an Asus A7V8X and only runs at 333Mhz which is the same as my Athlon XP 3000 processor, so would it be worth it if my bus is only 333? Like i said, i don't have a whole lot of expirence with this so i may be wrong on a few things, but am anxious to learn if anybody has any ideas.

If your processor runs at a FSB of 333, you should run the ram at 333 anyway. Any performance bonuses from running the ram at 400 asyncronously to the 333 FSB would probably be nullified. AMDs take a performance hit when they run async, so you're generally better off not doing so.

Hi rreed55 & Welcome to the Forums!

If it were me, I keep my $ and later get a 64bit mobo when I'd saved enough for a cpu to go along with it. Your current ram s/b fine in a 64bit system.
